Windows Phone 7 or iPhone??

It's funny because at one time, Windows mobile was a brand that most people would not look into as others prefer to look at Android phone, iPhone or even Blackberry. The smartphone industry is one that Microsoft has failed to penetrate into.

However, with the announcement of Windows Phone 7 series, the feedbacks and remarks have all been positive. The question now remains is whether the Windows phone could challenge iPhone in the smartphone industry. We have seen what Android phone has managed to do and the competition is getting tighter. It is not a surprise that Apple decide to sue HTC. It is after all a case of trying to dominate the market. But we have heard that Microsoft is ready to help these companies regarding the lawsuit.

That aside, Windows Phone 7 has been gaining praise for a few reasons.

  1. Microsoft is willing to do away with the old UI and stylus style as the trend shift to touchscreen phone. The new layout that was presented to us last month was fantastic. The hubs available help made the usage of phone easier and smarter.
  2. Then, there is the Microsoft Office Mobile, which is something that the company is very strong at. The inclusion of OneNote and the showing off of the Office function was fantastic, nice and adorable. It also helps with all the integration available via the internet.
  3. Of course, Windows are also introducing a few new functions...we all know bout Zune player, Zune software on the computer and now Zune is coming to mobile phone. Well, it would be interesting to see how this is going to challenge the Itune of Apple.
  4. Then, gaming is something that Windows know they are capable of challenging other companies. And it is true with Xbox. And now they are bringing the Xbox Live to Windows Phone. And more is to be told about the cool features available.
  5. Social network integration is also a must as Microsoft recognize that.
With all these available, Microsoft is definitely ready to wrestle with Apple's Iphone. But then again, we are hearing about Iphone 4G or something like that. It would be interesting to see how the competition continue to develop.

Growing up

Growing up is definitely not an easy process. It is even more true when you are left on your own. I finished reading the book "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell. In a way, I like that book because I know that in life, to be successful, it takes more than just hardwork, the genius in you but it takes a bit of luck and a bit of support from people close to you.

There have been so many people (close friends included) who look at me as though as I have everything. A close family, a job secured (thanks to the bond under Great Eastern), a love life (girlfriend) and money (maybe not too much, but enough...thanks to the scholarship with Great Eastern and also during the time when I tutor in Ipoh). I won't say that God has been unfair to me because in every way I know I am better than many others. But it is when you have set a certain expectation that you felt that it was never enough. And then there are problems that others do not see because they are not part of my life.

I wouldn't mind if people don't see those problems in me. I would be happy if others look at me as happy-go-lucky, because I guess that's how I used to look up to my mentor. I'm not sure about now but growing up tells a lot of different stories to me.

There are problems and stories that are unheard of. There are people who gone through pain alone and I would learn to be part of those stories. Lately, I've been spending a lot of time with a friend of mine, who work to support for herself. I guess there is an amazing passion and love in that life because she works every night until at least 1 to 2am. She would also need to be out there working during noon and evening. I knew that there are more than just money that motivates these people.

It is sometimes about family. It is sometimes about love for someone. It is sometimes just circumstances in their lives that this has to happen.
Looking at these untold and unheard stories, I just hope to be part of the pieces here and there. Some people might be wondering why I did not just use all the scholarship money. Why the need to work? There are of course more than just one reason, and at times, things are best left untold.

I am growing up....many of us are growing up. It's just the different path we choose. And I wish you all the best in your road ahead!!

March 04, 2010

I'm not sure what to put for the title here. Eventually, I decided not to put any. After all, this is a very random post of mine. I hardly have much time lately for blogging and exploring with the internet. With assignment deadline drawing closer and mid tests that seem to be coming continuously, I really find it a bit difficult to juggle my time. Not to forget that during CNY, there was a lot of family event.

Well, it was this week that I had more extra time, thanks to the test that ended on a Monday. I'll only have tests coming up next week, which means I have some time to cover for other things such as the assignment. Was busy doing Ethnic as Aaron asked for favour.
That aside, I just realized something new from Windows Live Hotmail.
For those of you who do not know, you can actually send and receive emails from gmail account using your Hotmail account. It was pretty cool as all you need to do is add an email account in the Windows Live page.
I've also been playing with some of the features in Windows Live, which I find it more convenient to use in comparison to Google account. Well, probably it was the Gmail, Google search engine and Blogspot that Google has the edge over Microsoft. Aside from that, Microsoft has a lot of fun stuff to show with Windows Live.

Look at the left hand side bar and you will see a row with gmail - jesusury
And that is my gmail account in Hotmail...

And I also try uploading photos with Windows live gallery...adorable!!

Well, that is basically what I've been doing lately...with laptop, camera, studies, assignment....
I need to get back to my studies now...NERDING mode...hehe!!
