iPhone 4

I just got the new iPhone 4 last week. After buying and using it for about a week, here are my reviews on the iPhone 4.
These are the photos that I took.
The first thing that I really like the iPhone 4 is of course the design. The retina display has been awesome...

tada!! while i charging the iPhone 4

Well, the retina display is awesome!!

the carbon fibre skin I used

This is how the iPhone 4 looks like from different angles...

when unboxing the iPhone 4

Well, enough of the beauty of the iPhone 4. The skin is smooth...the design is cool...the slim design is terrific but then a good smartphone is not just about the design right?
Anyway, a lot of my friends have been talking about "jailbreaking" but then I didn't do it...not bold enough for it but I still have a lot of good apps.  I am not going to talk about the apps for now since I'll leave it for some other time.

For now, I wanna talk about some other things...
I'll probably talk about the good factors that I like about the iPhone 4.

Well, the design is definitely an awesome one as mentioned earlier...so that's one of the things that I like...although initially I felt that the 3GS design was nicer but after playing with it for a while, I find it to be actually better.

Besides the design, I am also glad that I purchased the iPhone 4 using the Digi plan...thus, I can be connected with the internet all the time. Thus, the push notification is pretty useful...all the updates from Facebook, email and many others are quite good.

Initially, I was quite fed up with the fact that I need to slowly write down all my contacts into the iPhone 4 but with the usage of Outlook, I managed to sync all my contacts into the phone....although there are some duplicates, I am still quite satisfied with it. I'll try to think of ways to merge all of these duplicates using the Outlook instead.

Of course, the camera was another good factor. I had no idea how Apple actually do it but the camera is really quite good....5 megapixels and the flash...really quite a good camera phone...

With applications such as Whats app, TextMe, PingChat, Nimbuzz and many others, I am able to connect with my friends all the time. People like Evon, my cousin Benjamin and many others could chat with me for free and it really feel like I'm using the sms and not other apps.  It is also possible to blog on the go using Blogbooster...a free app and it's actually quite good.

Checking email is also very smooth and playing games occassionally was pretty fun as well....I'll blog more about the apps some other time though.
Alright, enough of all the good factors...now here are some of the things that you should take note of...something not so good about the iPhone 4...
  • Antenna issue still happening...well, it is not that serious but I could still see that the signal on the iPhone 4 drops when I hold the phone in a certain way...drop calls issue has not happened but the drop in signal shows that the issue is really there.
  • Battery draining too fast? Well, first of all, I'm not too sure if this is normal but while I use the iPhone 4 with the wifi and 3G on, the battery is gone pretty fast. Then I decided to try off the connection when I go to bed...and try use the iPhone 4 for about a day and here is the result..about 8 hours of usage and 16 hours plus of standy....of course, I did plug in the iPhone 4 for a while to sync certain stuff but only for a while. I used it a lot for sms, calls, web browsing and also play some games, and also download apps...
The battery ain't as good as boasted but still bearable...

  • The occassional lag....now this is something that I did not expect from an Apple product. Of course, it was not that serious and the lag only happen when I have most of my social networks running and music is on, while playing NinJump...but still, the occasional lag kinda be pretty disappointing.

Viber - Free Phone Calls for Iphone, Ipod Touch and Ipad

Viber is a free Iphone application that allows you to make free phone calls to another Iphone owner who has the application installed. This application is currently one of the most popular free VOIP applications that are available in the iTunes Store and Iphone users who have downloaded the application can call whenever there is Internet connection be it Wi-Fi or 3G.

Viber is not only works with Iphone but it is also compatible with other Apple products like Ipod Touch and Ipad which use iOS 4.0 or newer. For Ipod Touch 3rd generation and older, a headset with mic is required to make the phone call using Viber.

After downloading and installed Viber on the Apple device like Iphone or Ipod Touch, one will requires to setup the application by entering a mobile number so that Viber can send an activation code to the mobile number. For Iphone, the activation code will usually be send to the Iphone, while for those who are using Ipod Touch or Ipad, they will get the activation code on their mobile phone. After the activation, Viber is ready to go and one will be able to save a lot of phone call charges by calling family and friends using Viber. Extremely good when call oversea.

One of the thing that I like about Viber is I feel that the sound is better than regular phone call especially when I'm in a Wi-Fi zone where the Internet connection is fast - assuming the receiver's Internet connection is the same. In the latest version, Viber includes call quality indicator, which really do me a great deal of favour in finding the location with the strongest Wi-Fi signal.

Valentine's Day....

I always got this feeling that whenever Valentine's day is around the corner, people get over-excited...some people spending hundreds, if not thousands...now that's not a bad thing. I personally spend a lot on occassion like these as well but since I'll be in KL this year and YenLeng in Ipoh, I'll probably be back at home, resting and chilling...
Anyway, I am blogging in the library after my test so was feeling a bit tired plus I'm sick. Anyway, I was reading some of the articles regarding Valentines' Blues...
Now, if you are reading this and feeling the blues, here are some of the things that you should do to change things around:

  1. Go out with your singles buddies....go for a drink, chill a bit, go for a movie or whatever...who says singles can't enjoy on Valentine's day..
  2. Give yourself a "ME" time. Life has been hectic and busy all the time...maybe this is a good time for you to rest. Make yourself your favourite drink...get yourself into the bath tub (if you have one), chill yourself, watch a cool movie in your room and tuck yourself to bed early. (now that might sound boring but how many times could you really do that?)...if these ain't the stuff you're into, go and do what you always wanted to do...maybe like going for club or maybe just go for a drink at a bar...whatever that excites you...
  3. Ignore all the remarks that you didn't have a single Valentine's Day card...
  4. DON'T GO FOR A VALENTINE'S MOVIES....

Now I'm sure that it's awesome to be able to celebrate a lovely day with your loved ones....but I'm sure it'll be just as great to hang out with your friends instead. I'm glad that YenLeng is supportive in a lot of things that I'm doing...while I might not be celebrating this beautiful occassion with her, I believe it is something that mark the maturity of a relationship...the need to allow both parties to have their own space, while maintaining the relationship...anyway, Happy Valentine's Day!!

Call for Free Using Nimbuzz for iOS and Android

During this Chinese New Year break, I managed to play around with some of the applications for the iPod and Iphone. Well, one of the application that I found useful and more importantly there is an Android version of the application as well. This means that if you have a lot of friends using iPhone or even iPod Touch and Android smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S and HTC Desire HD, then this application is suitable for you as well.

Nimbuzz is like a 2 in 1 application that allows registered users to make calls to other Nimbuzz users, as well as sending messages. In short, Nimbuzz is just another Skype that most of us are currently using.
(I will blog about the Skype application for iOS and Android in another post)

One of the feature in Nimbuzz that I like, as well as dislike is the integration with other messaging software like Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Facebook Chat and many other more. I really like this because you get to chat or call friends who are logged on to the PC while calling and texting for free with friends using smartphones like iPhone - of course they need to be registered users as well.

For iPod Touch users, you can also install this application and chat or call friends whenever you are in a WiFi connection - it is not that tough to find WiFi zone nowadays as there are just too many Starbucks or Old Town Kopitiam around us.

Chinese New Year....

Well, it's Chinese New Year and the festive season is quite good...a time to rest, meet up with people you love and spend some quality time together. Anyway, the holiday is quite short this time around with other commitments to go but I really do appreciate the break I have.

Met up with some of my old schoolmates (I'm still waiting for the photos from Carey though) and my close buddies (Addie, Samuel, Jian Yao, LiangHin...did not take photos with them though). Although we did not do much, it's great to see that everyone is great...that while life might have its' ups and downs, we can look at the bright side of it.

I only have some of the photos I have with my family though.

Anyway just wanna shared something...while I was drinking with Addie and LiangHin in Shayo, I saw someone unexpectedly....and it really did bring back some memories...but I think time has teach me to grow up and I guess the past will be the past....
Am glad that it's 2011 and am really looking forward to the days ahead...

iPhone 4

We all know about iPhone 4 but how many of us really know about what it can do? Well, I don't really know about it either until my sis bought hers...

When I was unboxing the iPhone 4, I was AWW!! haha!!

Well, to be honest, iPhone 4 is a good phone...user-friendly, smooth and it seems to be running so smoothly all the time. Then, you don't have to worry about closing applications like when you use Android or Windows Mobile (if you're still using it).

The camera is fantastic....and my brother who previously said nothing good about iPhone seems to appreciate the camera in it and the ability of iPhone 4 to upload photos directly to social networks as well. The music is fantastic, the video is awesome...the internet browsing is simple, smooth and the pinch to zoom seems to be awesomely smooth. Although i felt that the battery life ain't as good as proclaimed by many...

Well, here are the specifications of the Iphone 4 for those of you who do not know...you could go the Apple website to look for it...I'm too lazy to write it down in my blog here...

Happy Chinese New YeaR!!

Well, 10 more minutes and it will be Chinese New Year...just wanna drop by a simple wish here to all my buddies, brothers, and family.
Hopefully, this will be a year that we will learn to appreciate others more...
While life might not be all that sweet, smooth and steady journey, hopefully, we'll learn to embrace the process of it....this is my CHINESE NEW YEAR wish...

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!

Samsung Galaxy S

Samsung Galaxy S is one of the best Android smartphone available in the market and since I consider getting one, I look at some of the specifications and the power of this smartphone.

This 4-inch, Super AMOLED, 800 x 480, IPS-killing display has been the screen that could amaze you even if the smartphone is subjected to bright sunshine flowing directly at it. This is probably one of the finest displays at the moment, very much comparable with the iPhone 4 retina display.
The Hummingbird processor is powerful as well, making the pinch-to-zoom to be superbly smooth.

The 720p video recording at a cool 30fps is on offer, along with a 5 megapixel imager on the back and a 1.3 megapixel one on the front. Both picture and video processing were done rapidly.

On the software front, you've got TouchWiz 3.0 overlaid atop Android, though if you're keen on sticking to the stock Google-flavored Eclair, the good news is that Samsung's modifications don't really get in your way.

Aside from the Social Hub -- which aggregates Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and other social networks into one stream, in a similar vein to what almost everyone else is doing lately -- they're mostly in-app changes and skinning tweaks that shouldn't have a negative impact on the user experience.

The handling of contacts were amazing as you could swipe it to the right on a contact's name to automatically dial his phone number, whereas swiping left initiates a text message with him as the addressee. This is definitely smooth, and user-friendly...something that Samsung has been very good at lately.

Of course, there are much more free apps on the Android market in comparison to the Apple store...

Random stuff that I did yesterday...

Well, I had my lunch in Tuck Kee Restaurant yesterday with some of my family members and relatives. The food was pretty good (not excellent though)...

Was feeling quite satisfied after the lunch. The food was not bad although I must said that I hate the parking space around the area. Couldn't really find a good parking.

Since I was having cough, I did not really go out. Spent some time reading some stuff and then, I realized that I have not been jogging for a few days already. Couldn't wake up early this morning either for the jog so decided to go for a run later in the evening.

Then, at night, we heard the sound of fireworks and it was then that I remembered there was this fireworks display near my area. I did not go out because I am feeling rather tired (must be due to the effect of the cough medicine). But then, we could see some of it from my house but couldn't really take a good photo of it. (here was when I would be cursing for not having a good camera like the one Carey has...hate her!! haha!!)

Well, part of the reason for the poor quality of the image was due to the distance...my brother took the photo from my house balcony which is quite far from where the fireworks...then of course, the camera....see, now you know why I said I need a DSLR....gosh!! the power of money...lOL!! Anyway, I will get to play with Carey's camera tonight...lalala!!

I guess this is it for now...I'm feeling sleepy again...must be the cough medicine!! hate hate hate!!
