Positive Habit 2: Identify and Eliminate what drains you

This is probably one of the most difficult part as something that drains you might be just as important to you.

And yet, if you want to live a positive and effective life, you must do just that. If people or things bug you and led you to a negative path, it is time to learn to say "NO" to either them or things.

What drains you could be the little things as well as the big things. It could be your poor relationship, or driving in the rush hour traffic, a messy car or house, a crazy and dishonest boss or even simply that you dislike your job. These sort of things need to be avoided and eliminated if possible, because these are a huge drain on your energy's level.

When you do that, you will be amazed at how much lighter you will feel and the ability to create space for something new and effective.

How do you identify and eliminate all these?

Start by making a list of 5 things that are draining you from these 3 areas:

  • Work
  • Home
  • Relationships
Be specific about what is it you are putting up with, what and who's bugging you as well as what you're neglecting and putting off. Then ask that simple question:

Are you willing to put an end to all these distractions...if your answer is yes, then start by eliminating them, one by one. It will be a huge and overwhelming task initially, but overtime, you will find that this is what you need to do to enjoy the lighter load....

Dinner in Q Bistro

Well, I am not really the type who would look for nice food. As long as it is fulfilling, it is good enough for me. I am also basically the fast food generation as well as the mamak frequent visitors (partly due to the football fixtures).

Anyway today I went for dinner in Q Bistro in Bandar Seri Permaisuri...thanks to the company of Tom, I don't have eat dinner on my own.

Anyway, this is what I ordered: Nasi Q-Bistro...

The chicken is quite amazing with the sauce....and I must said that the egg is nice!!

A big thumbs up to Mamak food here...

This is the reason why I believe even though there is no TV in Q Bistro, there are a lot of people who go there for mamak session....

Imagine a mamak without football attraction that still managed to have good business...

Truly satisfied with my decision and will now rest while await for Italy game against Germany...bring on the Germans....the Azzurri fear no one!!

City Harvest Church founder, 4 others charged

Well, what do Christians said when the court rule them right?

God is my Vindicator....and when the result goes the other way round?

This is a test of our faith...

Well, if you happen to be a City Harvest Church fans, you will find it annoying to read news regarding the fraud charges against founder, Kong Hee.

In no way am I trying to be sarcastic but if you've read news on how the supporters of Kong Hee trying to protect and shield the pastor from the media, it was pathetic....none of them tried to shield Kong Hee when he was up on the stage like a superstar...this raises that question: you are only willing to be seen as someone great and not as someone charged with fraud cases....

Make no mistakes....Kong Hee is not at fault at the moment...it is still an ongoing investigation with the court yet to make the final decision...we must always remember: innocent until proven guilty.

But I seriously hope that people will stopped defending all the questioning....and tried to argued outside the court...that simply shows something is seriously wrong with the fruits of the tree....a statement I saw on twitter...let's not be naive...we are not talking about thousands but millions....if it is a crime, then one must look into it.

So what are the charges against Kong Hee and four other church leaders??

Criminal breach of trust and falsifying accounts....

Please take note: it is only charges...they are still as innocent as we are so long as the court case is ongoing.

According to the Straits Times (ST), prosecutors believe that a total of $24 million was invested in alleged sham transactions to fund the pop music career of Kong's wife, Sun Ho.
The funds were said to have been put into a $13 million bond investment with Xtron Productions, while $11 million was allegedly put into another company called PT The First National Glassware.
Deputy Public Prosecutors Christopher Ong and Grace Goh told the court that some of the accused were also believed to have conspired to misappropriate another $26.6 million of church funds so that it would seem like the alleged sham bond investments were redeemed. This is called 'round-tripping'.
"It is the Prosecution's case that these further monies were circulated... to create the false appearance that the purported sham bond investments had been redeemed, when in fact the 'redemption' had been financed using these further monies misappropriated from church funds," they said.
Well, my prayer is that the truth will be revealed: should Kong Hee be innocent, may the truth be reveal and set him free...but should he be guilty, may he received all the punishment that one truly deserve for fraud....

Chillis hangout: Celebration for Tom

Well, we all know when we are moving into a new path, something unknown, it is always filled with excitement and uncertainty at the same time....but with great friends to celebrate together, everything will become as smooth and as amazing as it is challenging.

We were out to celebrate for Tom...his new job, a new working environment and a new paycheck!! How's that for celebrating? Well, we made it look like he has to pay for the meal...totalling of RM220++....haha!! He paid using his credit card like a boss but let's say we are not such cruel friends...we shared the meal...it was simply a celebration of his new career.

Here's a group photo!! All smiles...with the juniors ready to embark on their own path as well after graduation...double celebration?

I am not so sure the best way to describe it but life is short...yet meaningful...let's learn to take things slow...embrace the people around you and the work that one is doing...that's something maybe all of us are still learning and will continue to learn.

Yummy!! Food!!

For those of you who know, I've never been a big fan of food, but I really do enjoy Chillis' food...so here's a hint for those of you who are thinking of treating me for a meal...

We ordered about 4 dishes to share...

Positive Habit 1: From the Inside Out

The other day I was reading this book on the positive habits that one should develop over a year.

There are 52 positive habits....one habit to learn every week for a year.

Most people look at things this way:

Having + Doing + Being = Success

but what it should really be is this:

Being + Doing + Having = Success

This is how it should be according to sequence....that instead of owning and having something, one should start with being....

Simple sum it:

1) BE
Be yourself, be who you really are....know who you really are...know what's most important to you...know what makes you unique...know what you do best...this introspection and clarity will help you to make it into the second stage...

2) DO.
Do the things that you know best...use your gifts and talents in a way that help others...touch people in meaningful ways....leave a lasting legacy....and this will take one into the third stage...

3) HAVE.
Have a life...not a lifestyle...a life oriented with what matters most...a life spent with those matter most to us....a financial rewards for doing what one love...

Redesigning one's life from the INSIDE OUT...getting to know oneself first...is the first step into developing a positive habits...

EURO 2012

So, EURO 2012 has already been ongoing, with the group stages coming to an end....Germany, Portugal both make it for the Group of Death....Czech Republic and Greece both emerged as qualifier for Group A, where the co-host, Poland is out. Meanwhile, my favourite team, Italy managed to get into the quarter final with two draws against Spain and Croatia before winning on their final game against Republic of Ireland.
As I blog this, it is the second half of the final game of the England's group....scoreline remain at 0-0 for England vs Ukraine as well as France vs Sweden.

Anyway, football competition has always been able to keep us awake during our school days and now, it is doing to us again even as I head into the working world. My housemate, Soon Aik would sleep at night and wake up for the game during the midnight....amazingly, he had been following almost all the games...I will only watch games like Italy, England and Portugal...

I am also following the games using the EURO 2012 app on the iPhone. It's free and it really feed me with the news for my favourite team, Italy. The notifications and alerts help to update me on the games...

EURO 2012 app

If you feel that you are not able to stay awake for the games, get yourself that app and at least be updated of the news as you awake....as for me, I'm going to enjoy the game....in a way, I hope Ukraine win but somehow, I hope Young and Rooney could perform (United players)....anyway, let's say I'm neutral for this game...may the best team win!!

May the best team win!

When everything is temporary... [Part 2]

My previous post was on some of the very important people in my life...

I was looking through some of the old photos....I don't have the soft copy of some of these photos and so I decided to take them using the camera and post it here as memories...

oops...the good old days...and I've already been so arrogant back then...

I still remember my Form 1-3 friends...some of them are really cool peeps...

my first Youth Camp....

F4 and F5 gang!

Crazy joker that never fail to impress me...

And how can I forget getting close with strangers in just 3 days through a seminar...

Shorties on my left and right...

When I looked at these photos, I wonder where is the place for these moments in my today's life...but I can not dwell on the past...it's about cherishing those moments and making sense of today....

It is still a good laugh to look back and realize that we were really young back then without actually realizing it...

When everything is temporary...[Part 1]

Do you remember your best friend when you first entered school? Is there still any connection between you and your "first love" or maybe your "first crush"

What about when you grow older? Are you still hanging out with the same group when you did 3 years back? What about the good old buddies that you spent most of the time with, be it on the phone or when you are seeing one another?

Well, I have a very interesting youth because of this group of people...

The guy on the most left on both the photos, the guy with spectacles...that guy is Jian Yao...he's the guy that brought me to church and I am thankful to God for him, for the rest of my life...because it was there that I met the other people in the photo. He was also the guy that has been a good friend to me...

Addie on the right, the one behind me....the man that I spent most of my time with...studies, church service...we are both good in it...we are not the best but we still did it in a rather amazing way...doing what is deemed right back then.

You probably noticed Samuel Choo, the guy sitting next to YenLeng...while I have to admit I hate his "tak apa" attitude but he's probably one of the coolest friend I ever had...and he cares, even though he don't say it.

Alicia Yap...how can I forget...the girl that made guys fall on their knees...one with an amazing heart...while I wouldn't say she made much effort to be a good friend to me, having her as part of my youth is such joy that it is beyond words...
And honestly, I just wished there were times when we just go back to our youth, talking about life as though we know it all too well (but the fact that we know shit) in a coffee shop.

Then, you probably notice another guy, Liang Hin...the man whom I owed so much...teaching me what is right and also helping me in my darkest hour....no one could replaced his place in my life and I dared say this...I'll never find a better friend, because he was really more than just a friend...he was a brother and is still one....one that I look up to regardless of the opinion of others...regardless of how far we might drift apart, because his presence helps me through my darkest phase...and I thank God everyday for him.

While I really hope that all of those beautiful memories will remain, I knew all too well that we have all grown up....we are no longer the same people we used to be. We no longer hang around in church....we don't talk about studying anymore...and we don't talk about relationship problems anymore (we all know too well how the game works).

When everything is temporary, including the closest people in your life, somehow, you just hope that you can get hold of that moment, freeze it and remember it for the rest of your life...but even then, memories will eventually fail...but to this small group of people, I love you more than words can describe...you might find that I no longer find you...it's not that because I didn't want to find you...it's just that I no longer know how to connect like I used to. If there is one way that I could say how meaningful you guys are to me, it is through this....

because even when time fails me, I know that I have poured it out, in ways that I know best...I may not have been the best friend but I hope you know I have tried...
