I was back in Ipoh on 21st December...

Home Sweet Home...
It was awesome to be back home...had my rest...and feeling much better...no office...no more Excel for a while...just exactly what I need...

Then, there was the family dinner...with my grandma, cousins, uncles and aunties as well...

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Well, I guess life definitely lack a certain adventure and journey...which makes us turn to movies for it....

We have a lot already on the list and now, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey adds onto the list of movies that speaks about adventure...I had heard a lot of positive reviews from my friends and on the internet as well.

Since it was raining quite heavily, I'll change the day's plan....Running session cancelled....gonna do a simple workout later before heading out for dinner with Wen Shiuan and Soon Aik....then it'll be movie time.

That's right...the title on this post is the movie that we're going for: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

I'm praying that it'll turn out good...if you're not aware: it's a 3 hours movie....

Q Bistro lunch...

Well, I was feeling rather tired today...probably due to the running and extreme push I gave myself while playing badminton yesterday.

Today, when I awake, it was rather late already...Soon Aik and I went for a lunch in Q Bistro.

I felt cheated after I made my order...I just realized how different the order may come out in comparison to those in the menu....

Mark the difference
Of course, the taste of the teh tarik is quite good, in comparison to the many other teh tarik outside, but priced at RM2.00, I think it's a bit over...

Then, I had my nasi goreng ayam...

The left side is what is served...the right side is the image on the menu...
Honestly, given the price, I think it is not worth it...but it was quite fulfilling...I guess it's time to go to GE to get some data to be done at home...

What's next on Sunday? A running session...:-)

Work life balance

There are times that one get caught up with something that they forgot about the importance of work life balance.

Today, I decided to make sure that it happened. I went to office to check on some of the work...only stayed for about 3 hours...Choon Foong bought me breakfast...

After that, it was lunch break with Choon Foong and my housemate, Soon Aik. Initially we decided to watch movie but since we couldn't find the right time, we went to play pool in SSTwo Mall. It has been a while since we played...so, it's really good to finally find time for all these activities...

The game cost less than RM10 bucks for the three of us....pretty cheap considering the fact that we played for about 3 hours plus...after that, we went for a tea session in Ochado (my first time being there)...well, I don't really like my drink but it was pretty cool as you could choose your own sugar level preference...very good for the health conscious....

can choose your sugar level preference...healthy!!

Night time, we went for a badminton game....Choon Foong, Soon Aik, Ming Yee and Tom....we played in Ming Yee's aunty's apartment...so it's F.O.C!!
Haha!! Played for about 2 hours and I totally love the feeling after the game. I have to admit...I still couldn't understand how people enjoy playing or watching badminton so much but I'm gonna train until I'm pretty good...that's the game plan.

Once the game was over, we headed to Picadilly for our dinner and also to watch the Manchester United game against Sunderland...

too hungry...forgot to take the pic before eating...lOL!!

It was an awesome night, with United winning the game 3-1 as well....goals from RVP, Cleverley and Rooney are good enough to ensure that Manchester United sits at the top with 6 points above City...

Well, I guess it's time to catch up on some reading before sleeping and starting another day tomorrow...looking forward to it!

A friend from UK

It is always difficult to find people who pour out their hearts to you as a friend. Such moments are rare, especially in this community. We have all learned that success is for the selfish...individualistic has taken place in our modern mentality.

I'm not saying that I don't have good friends...it's just rare. Anyway, the other day when I went home, I saw a card sent to us by May Kee...she is currently studying in UK, taking her Masters. She was my junior in UM. We hardly talk...in fact, I only know her in my final year, since she's close to one of my buddies, Wei Hoong. She's not one of those pretty chicks but I have to admit...there is something genuine about her as a friend, which is why I'm putting her into my blog.

all the way from UK

You see, it was not really the card that makes the difference...it was the thought from her...that she really care as a friend.

"KIAN HIN GOR GOR"

There were a lot of frustrations at work at times and one could be so fed up and tired with a lot of things...but this little act of concern and love helps to lift one up...it's good to know that there are those who really do care.

Thanks May Kee!

Party everyday...:-)

It's a good lift of spirit especially as Christmas draws closer...

Manchester City 2 - 3 Manchester United

It was not one of the best performance by United but it was one of those games that the forwards have been very on target and on form...

The game was started with City dominating....it was as though United were going to go through a torrid night....but at 16 minute, a simple pass from Young and Rooney immediately shot pass through Clichy and gets the shot away...it was a rather soft one but Joe Hart could only managed to watch on as United go on for the lead...

It wasn't long before Rooney added in another goal for United, making him the youngest to score 150 goals in the Premier League.

Rooney celebration
The second half started with Tevez coming on for Balotelli. It was one of those games that Balotelli couldn't really perform and Mancini was right to bring on Tevez....the game continued with City dominating without any clear cut chances....

Then, Van Persie made an amazing shot that hit the bar and while Young actually rebound and scored, the officials ruled it out as offside...Replays shown otherwise though...
but it was after this decision that City made an attack that resulted in their first goal...De Gea managed to block shots from Aguero and Tevez, but couldn't denied Yaya Toure from scoring the first goal...after the goal, it was all fast paced with City kept coming at United most of the time...

Dzeko came on in the 83rd minute, replacing Toure....so often the supersub for City, one would expect something from the Bosnian but it was Pablo Zabaleta that scored the equalizer....

City continued attacking with Tevez missed out on a few chances....then there was the foul against Rafael by Tevez just outside the penalty box....Van Persie stepped up to take the free kick and a slight deflection reflected in United winning goal...

A sensational stoppage time goal by Van Persie

Then, things got ugly during the celebration...some City fans threw objects and hit United's defender, Ferdinand...he was bleeding because of that...

To make things worse, a City fan ran towards the field to confront Ferdinand...
Joe Hart halted the fan and the scene turned pretty ugly...

When Citizens became Hooligans...
It was a great win for United....6 points lead over the nearest rival, City...that's good to know but given the way the game ended, this surely will intensify the rivalry between the two Manchesters...

A weekend well spent

I left early on Friday after work....back home and slept at about 10pm...that's amazing since I hardly get into bed before 1 or 2am...

On Saturday morning, I only get up at 7am...which means I slept for about 9 hours...ooh la la!! I really appreciate this sleep...I was so full of energy after that....YenLeng came to KL with her parents. Her parents fetched her here as she had the CCP Paper 5 exam from 9.30am until about 4pm.

We had our breakfast together somewhere in SS2....ate some Chinese food before we fetched her to UM. The exam was held in the Examination Hall inside University Malaya. I was the one driving since I am more familiar with KL and YenLeng's dad did not really know how to use the GPS.

Anyway, we took a pic before she go in for the exam...she looks so fat here...hehehe!!

After that, I fetched the parents around KL, bought lunch for YenLeng and also head to Starbucks for some drinks...I brought them to Tropicana City Mall since it was very near with UM. After her exam, they went back Ipoh while I got back to my house....spent my time reread the book "Blink".

Blink!

I also went for a quick run...intended to run longer but it was raining halfway....during night time, I spent some time playing with my guitar...it has been so long...

I even recorded one with my iPhone..."Heart of Worship"....sounds pretty bad....aiks!! my voice...oldies already...but it was fun and a lot of reflection done...

I am also happy that I had the opportunity to meet up with Addie and Sara...two of my amazing friends from CGBC and Timothy Cell....life would have been so much different if it weren't for you guys...and it is great to have the time to talk about random stuff, about life over a cup of beer...Leffe for you guys and Bell-vue for myself...it was also great as we had our drinking session in Brussels at Jaya One...a friend of mine is working there so I got a 10% discount.

After that, I also get to meet up with Joanne....it has been quite a while and it was good because I'll be moving to a new place soon so I guess I won't had so much time to meet up with Joanne anymore...it was good to know that she's doing good.

Sunday morning: ahem...I'm still sleeping....loL! It was great to have this weekend off but I still head to office after my lunch, to check on the report done earlier by my colleague, Aida...after a few hours in the office, I decided to call it off...back to my house and do a simple workout...focusing on the abs....I call it Abs Burner workout. I'd done it for about 30 minutes, head to shower, checked some of the things that need to get done during this week in office and here am I now, blogging....

I guess I'll probably sum up my weekend by watching the Manchester derby...at first thought of watching this movie: Wreck It Ralph but no company...sigh! Anyway, it'll do me good to catch up on some reading before the game tonight....looking forward to it...

Heart of Worship

Yesterday night, before I went out for a drink with Addie and Sara, I was strumming and playing with my guitar before I bump into this song again...

"Heart of Worship"

And as I played the music, it all suddenly make sense...the good things that come along the way, the mistakes that I made, the selfish decision that I made...and many others...
I'm not going to say all of those are God's plans...but all of those have helped me to see beyond me...helping me to make sense of this song even as I played it...

When the music fades
All is stripped away
And I simply come
Longing just to bring
Something that's of worth
That will bless your heart

I'll bring you more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what you have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You're looking into my heart

Chorus
I'm coming back to the heart of worship
And it's all about you
It's all about you, Jesus
I'm sorry Lord for the things I've made it
When it's all about you
It's all about you, Jesus

King of endless worth
No one could express
How much you deserve
Though I'm weak and poor
All I have is yours
Every single breath

Human limitation

I am not the kind of person that admit I am limited but the truth is, we are all very limited by a lot of things...life has been pretty busy lately with a lot of workloads and planning for 2013 at the same time.

I would work until quite late before I leave...after that, I would normally go for a catch up session with different friends of mine...sometimes, there are amazing stories, inspiring ones and at times, I just felt fortunate to be there for my friend when he or she needed someone to listen to...after all the "catching up" session, it would be planning for the next day...for instance, I'm caught in a dilemma on whether to wake up early to exercise or watch the football game tonight, between Real Madrid and Ajax...I find it frustrating for 24 hours really ain't enough...that's when I have to admit: Human Limitation...

There are just so many things that we are limited at...our understanding of certain science phenomena...our capability of learning something new, the time that we need to rest...etc.

No wonder the book: Blink that I've been reading recently...talks a lot about thin-slicing information to have a more accurate answer...

Anyway, it's good to know that we are human...and that so much that we are not known of...only then mystery and surprises become meaningful...

Hate the jam while back to KL from Ipoh...

I had a rather amazing weekend back in Ipoh but was instantly turned off by the jam when I was on my way back to KL from Ipoh.

I left at about 4.30pm and only reached to Salak South house at about 8.30pm. It was also raining all the way while I was on my way back.

Initially, it was still okay as I was enjoying the music in my car...luckily I brought some of the CDs that I have not been listening for quite a while along with me this time around....nevertheless, after about an hour, I was getting agitated.

Couldn't take the jam so took a photo of it...not very clear...damn the iPhone's camera during night time...

Anyway, I'll blog about the amazing weekend back in Ipoh later...for now, I wanna exercised then go grab my dinner...

How do you know you're an adult?

I still remember hearing this question on the radio while driving to work. While I was relaxing today, this question somehow just pop up:

Have you ever asked that question?

I know most of my friends who are my age have already claimed themselves as adults...after all, being an adult to some is really just passing the age of 18 and going into the 20s and the 30s....

But here are some of the popular answers:

I will know that I am an adult when I can live on my own, when I am fully capable of surviving independently. I will no longer depend on shelter, food, transportation, and money from my parents.

I’ll really know that I’m an adult when I find my passion in life. What I mean by “passion in life” is what you want to do in life. For example when you’re little you want to be a fireman, policeman, doctor, teacher, etc… As you get older you start to see what you are really interested on. One you hit high school and you have a career that really calls your attention, that’s when I think you are mature because you have a future plan ahead of you, you are thinking college, and you know that you are doing the right decision.

I think that I will consider myself an adult when I feel old enough, have kids, am married, and have a job that I love.

For me, I consider someone an adult when they are 18 or older and can take responsibility to do things on their own (ie: make mistakes, accepting the blame, and then fixing their own mistakes, paying their own bills, paying their own rent, paying for their own food, eduction, etc.)

I know that most of us probably have some of these in mind when people asked that question: How do you know you're an adult?

I guess there will never be a straightforward answer. Maturity is really something that is subjective and while most people are adults in a sense that they could take responsibilities for their mistakes, they could feed themselves, they have a certain passion and dream and aim in life....most people forgot that we are growing into an adulthood that is selfish and only about us. The story of "others" have become so negligible to us that at times, being a responsible adults might not be enough.

What does it mean being an adult? I really think there are more than a fixed answer for this question...
