Anelka back to English football

I know there are probably too much transfer rumours. With so many new coaches and managers in the Premier League and the top leagues, most of the deals will probably take some time before anything is agreed and finalized.

Nevertheless, we are hearing some interesting news already with Anelka coming back to English football.

This would be his sixth English club after agreeing on a one year deal with West Bromwich Albion. Anelka, 34, underwent a medical at the Hawthorns on Thursday, as he looks to revive a Premier League career that appeared to end when he left Chelsea for Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua in January 2012.

In West Brom's official website, Clarke was quoted saying, "We are missing a bit of firepower from last year – we’re trying to put that right – and to kick off with the signing of Nicolas at the start of the summer is a great boost for everyone at the club.”

Anelka, who has also played for Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Bolton in the Premier League, was a free agent after leaving Juventus at the end of last season, following a year in China with Shanghai Shenhua.

He becomes the Baggies first summer signing and will wear their No. 9 shirt after penning a one-year contract "with a further year’s option in the club’s favour".
