Manchester United is the best place for Wayne Rooney

According to Manchester United legend, Gary Neville, Manchester United is the best place for Wayne Rooney. Is that even a surprise given his support for the Red Devils?

Rooney has been linked with a move away from the Premier League champions ever since old boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed the 27-year-old had handed in a transfer request towards the end of last season.

However, United legend Neville, who has worked closely with Rooney during his playing days at Old Trafford and now in his role as England coach, believes the best thing the forward can do is stay where he is.

‘I played with Wayne for many years. He’s a fantastic footballer,’ he told Talksport.

'Personally, with my allegiances, I’d never recommend anyone leave United because I believe it is a great stage to play football and you can achieve what you want there.

‘I’ve seen David Beckham and other big players leave United and it really is something that comes down to the individual and the club.

‘I’ve seen Ryan Giggs, when he was 27, linked to Inter Milan, Juventus and AC Milan and stay.’

Arsenal, Chelsea and PSG are all monitoring the situation closely but Moyes remains hopeful Rooney will stay and help him retain the league title in his first season since taking the managerial reigns from Ferguson.
