Diwali (Deepavali)

If you are a Hindu, this will probably be one of the most important celebration for you.

Diwali, or Deepavali, is popularly known as "festival of lights". The most significance spiritual meaning behind it is "the awareness of the inner light".

I still remembered back in school days, during the assembly, each year as Deepavali drew closer, my school principal, Mr Louis would be up on the stage talking about the celebration of light....the "victory of good over evil".

While the story behind Diwali and the manner of celebration varies from region to region, some with festive fireworks, worship, lights, sharing of sweets and many others, the essence and spiritual meaning is the same: to rejoice in the Inner Light...to awaken the awareness and compassion of the oneness of all things.

One of the great part being a Malaysian is to enjoy the different celebration by different group of people, with different faith and culture....a good reminder of the "victory of good over evil", the need to focus on the Light.

Happy Deepavali to all my brothers and sisters!
