Anwar's's all over again after 15 years....

Anwar's's all over again after 15 years. Anwar, who was sacked as deputy prime minister and finance minister in 1998 and convicted a year later.

It is unbelievable but yet anything can happened in Malaysia. A Malaysian court, once again, convicted opposition leader, Anwar Ibrahim of sodomy. He will be sentenced to five years in prison.

Three judges at the Court of Appeal unanimously voted to overturn Anwar's acquittal two years ago in a rapid ruling that his supporters and international human rights groups say was politically influenced and aimed at ending his career.
The former deputy prime minister, who was previously jailed for six years on sodomy and corruption charges, will not be jailed immediately as his lawyers won a stay of the sentence pending an appeal.

But the ruling bars Anwar from running for a seat in the state assembly of Selangor this month, a move that would likely have paved the way for him to become chief minister of Malaysia's most populous state - a potent platform from which to attack the government ahead of the next national election.
Let's not forget that his conviction back in 1998 was overturned in 2004.
"This trial was all about knocking Anwar Ibrahim out of politics, pure and simple, and the government was prepared to jump through whatever hoops were necessary to make that happen," said Phil Robertson of the New-York-based group Human Rights Watch. "It's a dark day for the Malaysia judiciary, which has shown how hard it is to get a free and fair trial when political issues are in play."
It is hard not to believe that this is all a set up...everything is work towards putting Anwar back into prison where he could no longer be influential in the upcoming election. Anyway, that's my personal view.
